Summer of 2002 with Sundance, his pasture
buddy.
Caliente lived here, in a 200x200' high
desert sand paddock in California. He was with two other horses and their
play kept everyone moving. Part of the time he was trimmed by any farrier
I could find. Then one trim by me supervised by 'Bergy.' Then
trimmed by me out of Jamie Jackson's books and eventually, just before leaving
California by James Wellz, CSHS and myself using the Strasser Protocols.
The pictures here are from my Jaimie Jackson period. He's clearly
contracted in the fronts, his heels are a tad too high, he doesn't have enough
scooping in his quarters and he's having separation of white line issues in his
hinds suggesting that they are unbalanced. I would say this is my
interpretation of the various trims on him and that I was struggling with all
this at that time.

After his trip across the country in an
air ride semi he was a little tense. Not so much from the ride itself as
having gotten lost in 'the cracks' and left for two weeks in Texas. But to
his new home at last he was now on 3 acres of grass, weeds and sand and with a
pasture buddy. I was worried about the sand but you can see his feet are
decontracting. In his hinds the white line separation has really closed though
you can see there is something going on in his right hind indicated by the frog pointing to
the inside. It was a problem in his pelvis. It caused that right
hind to point out and a lot of 'hook' growth in the outside heel buttress.
What's between my thumb and forefinger
in his left front shown in the caudal view is scar tissue from the wire cut that
went all the way to the artery in the spring of 2002.
